WebJan 1, 2014 · Abstract. In this study, we assessed the potentialities of using the phosphate washing by-products as row materials for the production of lightweight aggregates. Sludge samples from different washing plants have been physic-chemically characterized. Slurries were dried, milled and shaped into spherical pellets. WebLightweight aggregates serve the function of dimensionally stable aggregates with suitable density and water absorption and can be prepared from sludge through sintering processes (Huang et al., 2001 ). Huang and Wang (2013) manufactured these aggregates and investigated their structural and nonstructural properties.
