WebJan 14, 2014 · If you have a test light I suggest testing for power at the taillight plug. Remove the taillights from the Jeep and disconnect them at the plug. Then turn on the parklights and use your test light to check for power at the plug. If you have power at the plug, the problem is with the lamp assembly or the ground. WebJul 16, 2013 · If you look at the inside of the rear passanger wheel tub you will see to little metal points..... when you close the tailgate the points from the tailgate connect with the points on the rear wheel tub giving power to the third brake light. Just take a wire brush and clean the contacts...they get dirty.

The tail/brake light is powered by the stop lamp switch via a white/tan wire. The white/tan wire from the rear lights both meet up at splice 302. So either the splice is damaged or white/tan wire between left tail light and splice is damaged.
